Why Sweat stains are tricky

Protein stains contain amino acid chains that denature and coagulate above 40°C, permanently cross-linking with fabric fibers — which makes cold water the single most critical first step.

How to prevent Sweat stains

Wear an undershirt under dress shirts to protect them from sweat contact. Apply deodorant and let it dry fully before dressing. Pre-treating the underarm area with enzyme detergent before washing prevents build-up that eventually turns yellow.
